The Associated Press seeks newspersons for its International Desk in New
York City.

These newspersons file on DataStream, the main news transmission service
of The Associated Press, serving more than 1500 domestic newspaper
members, as well as broadcasters and commercial subscribers. These
editors work closely with colleagues on the National Desk, Photos,
Graphics, APTN and in foreign and domestic bureaus in a competitive,
24-hour-a-day news environment.

Outstanding editors become potential candidates for supervisory
positions, and may be given editing or reporting assignments at the
United Nations and abroad. Those interested in transferring abroad will
be judged by performance on the desk, knowledge of world affairs,
language skills, the ability to write clearly and compellingly, and
vacancies abroad.

Applicants must be strong, aggressive editors able to work quickly and
accurately under deadline pressure. Strong news judgment and knowledge
of international affairs are essential. Applicants should have excellent
reporting and writing abilities, as well as organizational skills and
responsiveness to members’ needs. Candidates should be flexible in work
schedules, which include substantial night and overnight work.

For consideration, e-mail a cover letter, resume and clips to
intdesk@apjobs.org. The Associated Press is an Affirmative Action/Equal
Opportunity Employer.
