About The Position:
The Electronic Community Developer will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of PTD’s online community. The Electronic Community will expand PTD’s frequently visited website into a media resource center, online media arts gallery, and educational hub. The candidate will work with an active steering committee of filmmakers, music producers, professors, hip hop artists, strategic planners, lawyers, advertising, design and operations professionals and a dynamic leader who will serve as a mentor and reference in your future development. This opportunity is perfect for a Digital Media Artist who is interested in the entertainment industry, non-profits, communications, and advertising/agitation propaganda.
1. Development. Responsible for development, execution, and maintenance of an online hub featuring music and video webstreaming, podcasts, and other scheduled media feeds; online contests, store, calendar, message boards, blogs, video blogs, and electronic newsletters. Will be responsible for all research and resource acquisition relating to the Electronic Community Program.
2. Vision and Leadership. Work with the Executive Director and Program Manager to develop and online presence reflective of the organization’s mission and vision, as well as the diverse perspectives of artists, students, staff, and community allies.
3. Maintenance and Evaluation. Research, identify, and employ tracking techniques for evaluation of program’s effectiveness; promote evaluation by artists, participants, volunteers, and staff to ensure quality programs. Develop, support, and continuously improve program in collaboration with facilitators, volunteers and Action Tank. Project manage related key programs and events.
4. Collaboration and Relationship Building. Create and sustain partnerships with non-profit, artist, activist, media, higher education, legal, philanthropic, and financial communities.
5. Fundraising and Resource Identification. Direct and implement online and offline fundraising efforts, including but not limited to identifying creative resource partnerships, and employing an individual fundraising initiative.
Qualifications
Project: Think Different’s Electronic Community Developer will be:

The Program Manager will also have the following professional qualifications:
* A minimum of 2 years experience in web development
* Familiarity with uploading, coding, design, HTML required
* Knowledge of standard design software including Dreamweaver, Flash, GoLive, Frontpage, Photoshop) required
* Experience coverting graphics to web format and utilization of digital media tools such as podcasting, blogging, RSS feeds, bit torrent distribution, and others required
* Experience as graphic designer strongly preferred.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Experience working effectively in a fast paced environment requiring initiative, reliability and resourcefulness.
* Ability to work effectively in and with diverse communities.
* Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree in relevant field is valuable but not required.
Compensation and Location
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience. Media Literacy Coordinator/Instructor is responsible for fundraising a portion of their salary. Access to a car is a plus.

Media Literacy Coordinator/Instructor

About The Position:
The Media Literacy Coordinator is responsible for the strategic planning, and curriculum development and implementation of an interactive Media Action Series geared toward youth ages 11 to 19 from diverse and under-represented communities. The series will examine how various media impact our perceptions of self and others, and will seek to empower a new generation of artists and media professionals to create more solution-oriented and equitable media. The Media Literacy Coordinator will also be responsible for various administrative duties related to PTD programming and day-to-day office function.
1. Program and Curriculum Development. Develop and implement curriculum and training for an interactive series of Media Literacy workshops. Responsible for developing relationships with potential workshop hosts and collaborators, devising and coordinating an interactive media literacy curriculum, leading media literacy workshops for diverse groups of youth throughout the Boston area, and setting strategy for Media Action Series “Take Action Initiatives.”
2. Organizational Vision and Leadership. Work with the Executive Director and Program Manager to set a curriculum reflective of the organization’s mission and vision, as well as the diverse perspectives of artists, students, staff, and community allies. Provide a strong leadership presence while furthering volunteer ownership and innovation. Manage and work closely with PTD’s Media Watch Youth Team and part-time Media Watch Team Facilitator on the development and implementation of workshop content and research.
3. Development, Mentorship, and Evaluation. Develop, support, and continuously improve programs in collaboration with facilitators, volunteers and Action Tank. Supervise and mentor facilitators and volunteers. Project manage key programs and events. Promote evaluation by artists, participants, volunteers, and staff to ensure quality programs.
4. Collaboration and Relationship Building. Create and sustain partnerships with non-profit, arts, media, higher education, legal, philanthropic, financial communities.
5. Fundraising and Resource Identification. Direct and implement fundraising efforts, including cultivating relationships with corporate sponsors, identifying creative resource partnerships, and employing an individual fundraising initiative. Will be responsible for additional grant writing in support of the Media Action Series.

The Program Manager will also have the following professional qualifications:
* A minimum of 2 years in teaching and/or curriculum development experience within the media and communications industries required.
* A minimum of 2 years program management experience is strongly preferred.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Experience with strategic planning and organizational development issues; supervising staff and working effectively in a fast paced environment requiring initiative, reliability and resourcefulness; fund-raising; managing budgets; and Microsoft Office.
* Ability to work effectively in and with diverse communities.
* Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree in relevant field is valuable but not required.

Youth Team Facilitator

Project: Think Different’s (PTD) messages in music, film and video, fuel empowering beliefs about our ability to create positive social change.
About The Position:
The Youth Team Facilitator is responsible for the training, coordination, and management of both the Street Marketing Team and Media Watch Team. The Youth Team Facilitator will work closely with PTD’s Executive Director and Program Manager to strategize, build, and implement marketing initiatives and media literacy training that educates and supports youth leadership development in the media arts industries. The Youth Team Facilitator will also be responsible for various administrative duties related to PTD programming and day-to-day office function.
The Media Watch Team is a 10-member panel of youth, ages 15 to 19, hired to survey and assess the current media landscape, contribute to the development of an eight-week media literacy curriculum, and serve as co-facilitators of a media literacy workshop series. The Media Watch Team will steer and inform Project: Think Different programs, music projects, videos, and online content.
The Street Marketing Team is a team of young volunteers ages 14 to 21 serving as street-level promoters, marketers, and distributors of PTD’s recent CD release, Empowerment.
Position involves
* Outreach to local youth organizations and youth leaders that connect to PTD’s mission
* Recruitment, training, and facilitation of young people to participate in PTD’s youth programming
* Working closely with Media Literacy Coordinator/Instructor to develop and implement curriculum for an eight-week intensive media literacy workshop series examining how various media impact our perceptions of self and others, seeking to empower a new generation of artists and media professionals to create more solution-oriented and equitable media.
* Facilitating research and compiling of educational toolkits for implementation of workshop series
* Assisting PTD staff in the development of programs, educational and marketing materials to reach young people
* Assisting in the development of networks, programs, and initiatives that strengthen PTD reach to youths across communities and in schools
* Distribution of PTD materials to youth programs and schools
Project: Think Different’s Youth Team Facilitator will be:

The Program Manager will also have the following professional qualifications:

* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Experience supervising and working effectively in a fast paced environment requiring initiative, reliability and resourcefulness; fund-raising
* Peer Leadership—school or community-based, experience volunteering, and/or activism
* Ability to work effectively in and with diverse communities
* Knowledge of Internet, email, Microsoft Office required
* Commitment to making a difference
