The Associated Press seeks a creative and dynamic editor to create and lead an innovative report that covers up-to-the minute trends in food, styles and fashion, relationships, travel, home life and more.
The new report will be a multimedia operation from its inception, offering a compelling mix of text, photos, video, audio, graphics and blogs. It will provide outstanding and original coverage that shines through a competitive environment and demands prominent play, whether in print or online. We’re looking for an energetic and passionate leader who can develop an ambitious vision backed by the AP’s resources. The editor will play the key role from conception through execution on the content packages and will work with his/her colleagues in all AP’s formats, including photos, videos, audio, graphics and online products.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong writing, editing and organizational skills; a keen awareness of trends and how they play out in society; an ability to push the envelope in developing ideas and creating content; and the ability to combine good and timely news judgment with an appreciation for unique content. Must be able to understand and meet market needs; recruit, motivate and develop staff in all media; work across platforms and coordinate with other AP departments, both domestic and international. This person should demonstrate an ability to publish content to the Web, with an understanding of the news industry’s growing online needs. Candidates must have a strong background in innovative features/lifestyles with at least five years’ experience in news management required.
