COMMITTEE TO PROTECT JOURNALISTS
Research Associate, Africa Program

The Committee to Protect Journalists is seeking a Research Associate for the
Africa program to work in our New York office. The ideal candidate will have
some knowledge of press freedom and human rights issues in sub-Saharan
Africa, strong writing and reporting skills, and the ability to work
independently as well as collaborate with a small team. Strong oral and
written communication skills in English and French are essential.

Primary responsibilities include: conducting daily research on English and
French language news Web sites, conducting telephone interviews with African
journalists and press freedom advocates in the two languages, preparing
alerts and case summaries on press freedom violations, and working with the
Africa Program Coordinator on regional advocacy efforts.
