The Associated Press seeks an Editorial Assistant for its International
Desk office in New York.

This editorial assistant helps editors at the International Desk in
monitoring the incoming flow of news, researching background for news
stories, preparing daily fixtures, such as Today in History, maintaining
a calendar of coming events, preparing weather tables and the daily
online play report system, distributing newspapers, and other routine
tasks.

The successful candidate must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment
of constantly changing priorities. Applicants must have strong computer
skills and familiarity with the online world. A journalism degree or
training in media is preferred. An interest in international affairs and
any foreign language skills are a plus. Flexibility in work schedules,
which involve day, night and overnight shifts, is essential.
