FLORIDA: Graphic artist for The Florida Times-Union
The Florida Times-Union seeks a graphic artist with multimedia skills. We focus the graphic artists’ time on high-impact pieces. And we give people a lot of room to get their ideas in the paper and online. You’d work closely with the other two artists, the graphics editor and the AME for Visuals. We have created a work environment that fosters creativity and values good storytelling in all forms.
In the last year, the T-U graphics department has:
*Won an SND Award of Excellence
*Won two Florida Society of Newspaper Editors Awards
*Hosted and led an SND Quick Course
*Collaborated with Jacksonville.com on multimedia graphics
*Frequently reported graphics and Alternative Story Forms
Things you could expect as a T-U graphic artist:
*Participating in weekly maestro sessions for each department
*Art department brainstorming sessions
*Creating illustrations in a variety of styles
*Working on graphics for print and multimedia
*Producing daily graphics on tight deadlines
*Graphic research and reporting
*Feedback and critique from your editors and peers
*Collaborating on full-page projects
*Freedom to pitch your own projects
