Business Reporter: The Record is seeking a writer to cover the health care industry in North Jersey. We’ve shifted away from big, out-of-area pharmaceutical companies while broadening the beat to include all aspects of the business of health care. We still cover billion-dollar companies — Barr Labs, the second-largest generic drug maker, Quest Diagnostics, the biggest U.S. drug testing company, and Medco, the nation’s largest pharmacy benefit manager, to name a few — but have expanded the beat to include scores of for-profit health-related companies and associated professions. Rather than strictly company coverage, however, we’re seeking a reporter who can find the trends, issues and controversies in this dynamic sector. The ideal candidate will come with a long list of story ideas and at least five years of daily newspaper experience to deliver breaking news, daily and Sunday centerpieces and A1 stories. If you are interested, send a cover letter, resume and your six best clips to Douglas Clancy, Assistant Managing Editor, The Record, 150 River St., Hackensack, NJ 07601see Business Editor Bill Donnellon.
