The National Host/Producer will work with a team of hosts comprising one of the strongest broadcasting staffs in the country, providing round-the-clock classical music and companionship to over 2 million listeners weekly. The Host will work at the forefront of national classical music programming and hosting, with a commitment to classical music as a vibrant and important format.

Classical 24™ is public radio’s only 24/7 live-hosted classical music service, produced by American Public Media and distributed by Public Radio International. Classical 24™ has a deep play list programmed from one of the country’s largest broadcast music libraries.

Position Responsibility:
* Perform regular air shifts.
* Operate the broadcast board and all studio equipment
* In-depth research for preparation in commentary, announcing and scripting content.
* Create content that flows seamlessly while meeting hard time posts within each hour of music.
* Prepares for and interviews occasional guests
* Trouble-shoot technical and on-air issues relating to air shift
* May make programming changes/decisions in stressful situations in order to maintain the integrity of the national service.
* Participates in the promotion of Minnesota Public Radio and Classical South Florida, including possible public appearances and on-air fundraising activities.
* Writes intros, scripts and fund raising copy
* May contribute materials to website, including blogging, podcasts, or feature reports.
* Makes critical decisions with respect to the credibility, personality and value of music and other program content
* Works with Managers and production staff to develop distinctive content and a creative sound.

Required Education and Experience:
* Bachelors degree or equivalent
* Minimum 3 years on-air broadcasting experience
* Minimum 3 years production experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
* Extensive background in classical music broadcasting
* Deep knowledge and appreciation of classical music and current events
* Excellent ability to engage the radio listener
* Technical editing and production knowledge and skills (Pro Tools, etc.)
* Basic understanding of MusicMaster software
* Ability to embrace new technology
* Ability to trouble-shoot technical and on-air issues relating to air shift.
* Ability to multi-task inside and out of the studio.
* Ability to perform under pressure
* Interest in the arts and arts events
* Strong and imaginative writing skills
* Ability to work as a member of a high functioning team
* Knowledge of the Public Radio system (strong customer service skills)
