The Associated Press seeks a News Editor for its New York City office.
This person will lead a team of reporters and artists that produces
Money & Markets, a financial data and content product currently aimed
primarily at newspapers and their Web sites. Money & Markets content
is pegged to breaking financial, economic and company news. Content
is explanatory and analytical and uses graphics heavily. The goal of
Money & Markets is to inform readers about markets news and trends in
an engaging, accessible way and help them make investment decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Money & Markets editor must have deep knowledge of the financial
markets and the economy. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and
critical thinker who can identify and anticipate news that will
affect the markets, and develop “story graphics” that explore
investor themes of broad interest to readers. The candidate must be
an outstanding editor able to help explain complex topics simply,
with context and perspective. He or she must be able to teach and
inspire staff, as well as work well with colleagues throughout
Business News and other AP departments. Experience assigning and
editing graphics is strongly preferred.
