Duties: The Executive Producer of News Gathering is responsible for overseeing the newsroom’s effort in gathering and ingesting news content on a daily basis. This person will also oversee the process and placement of that news content across all media platforms (broadcast, cable, Internet) consistent with the direction provided by the News Director to deliver ratings growth. This Executive Producer will have the primary responsibility of leading and coaching reporters in our effort to break news, tell compelling stories, provide added depth/context, originate content, and provide consistent and constructive feedback sessions. He or she provides quality control to station’s newscasts to provide accuracy, balance and credibility. The position requires a strong leader with interpersonal and team-building skills who communicates clearly with the staff. He or she is a skilled news writer that develops producing and writing skills of staff. The executive producer will possess news management experience and is responsible for:

# The supervision of newscast producers, reporters, photographers and editors.
# Short and long-range planning through conduct of daily story conferences, editorial meetings and inter-departmental conferences.
# Review and evaluation of newsroom staff through performance reviews
# Special project production and planning such as elections, sports and news specials.
# Supervision of the newsroom during the absence of the News Director.

Qualifications: Minimum of five years’ experience in television news. Successful applicants will be able to participate in the recruitment of on-air talent, producers, photographers, editors and assignment desk personnel. Prior News Director experience is a valuable asset as the Executive Producer will often be the manager in charge. Successful candidate should also be adaptive to new technologies and able to work a varied work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

PURPOSE:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Writes news stories for assigned newswheels and channel’s website that are factually accurate, fair and balanced in content, and written in a clear and concise conversational manner.
* Ensures stories are written to the video being edited.
* Follows through on all assignments, meeting required deadlines according to the producer’s instructions.
* Produces news programs and inserts as needed.
* Edits video demonstrating technical proficiency. Edits according to instructions while meeting deadlines.
* Works with Producers, VJs, Directors and Assignment Editors to create the newscast product.
* Performs the duties of Media Specialist and/or Assignment Editor as required.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and good organizational skills.
* Strong computer skills and ability to work with common office software systems.
* Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, etc.
* Solid news judgment, with knowledge of current local news and newsmakers a plus.
* Ability to make quick decisions, multi-task, and work effectively and efficiently under pressure and deadlines.
* Must be able to use and have knowledge of common television newsroom computer systems and software, with ability to learn new software systems
* Thorough knowledge of operational and office policies and procedures.
* Experience or functional knowledge of news video editing systems preferred, with knowledge of non-linear and or desktop-based editing systems a plus.
* Ability to shoot and edit video preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

* College degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field and knowledge of electronic news operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Television news experience a plus.

TITLE OF POSITION: Assignment Desk Editor
DEPARTMENT: News

DUTIES: Coordinates daily news story coverage as conceived by the Assignment Manager and news management. Make certain such coverage is handled efficiently and expeditiously. Assign crews to spot news stories. Develop contacts with news sources, the public and public agencies. Remain alert to radios and scanners for spot news and be able to efficiently move available crews into place for coverage. Coordinate with ABC network and affiliated stations for shared news coverage. Contact news sources and arrange for interviews when applicable. Communicate with newscast producers and newsroom management on progress of stories. Answer incoming calls, which include answering viewer’s request and questions.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be fully knowledgeable on television station newsroom functions. Background knowledge of current local, regional and national events and the relationship to our market desired. Sound news judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment are essential. The ideal candidate can work effectively with many personalities, stay organized, manage pressure, keep organized and multi-task. Two years of television news production and/or assignment desk experience preferred. We are a seven-day a week, twenty-four hour per day operation. Irregular hours and scheduling should be expected.

Study environmental issues at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Applications are

Reporters, editors, producers and freelancers are welcome to apply. Fellows
will take classes, attend special seminars, take field trips, and engage in
independent study at a university renowned for its environmental science and
policy studies. The Boulder Valley is home to more than 300 Ph.D.s working in
environmental studies and to several major federal laboratories engaged in
research in environmental science, making the region an especially rich
resource for learning. The Fellowship includes a 9-month stipend of $45,000.

SPORTS PRODUCER KDVR seeks a Producer/Editor/Reporter for our sports department. The primary functions of this position are producing and editing.
