Politics Reporter
Politics and Florida. Say those words in the same sentence and you’ll think hanging chads, eight years of the other Bush as governor and a potential VP candidate as the current governor.
Sound interesting?
You’ll get to cover that and more as the political reporter at The Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville.
You’ll also follow topics such as the political side of a relative newcomer in City Hall struggling to get things done, how lawmakers and lobbyists mix, and a rapidly growing suburban area where developers and builders have a huge amount of power and influence.
And you’ll be a leader on our team covering the presidential election and a variety of interesting local elections, including a state attorney’s race that is expected to bring huge fireworks.
There are many multi-media opportunities with this beat, including blogging and podcasts.
And you’ll do it all in growing and beautiful Northeast Florida.
We’re home to an NFL team, a strong economy and, of course, the beach. Two of Jacksonville’s schools rank among the nation’s top 10 and schools in our suburban counties consistently earn the state’s highest marks.
And we’re home to a newspaper that is not only filling reporter vacancies, but creating many new ones.
