About the Position:
The Associate Producer, Music will be responsible for assisting with the researching, coordination, collection and production of approved material for WNYC’s music programming. The Associate Producer will contribute to and assist with producing segments and shows for multi-pronged festivals rooted in the current cultural landscape. The Associate Producer will be an important member of the music team, contributing to the integration of WNYC’s music programming into the station’s overall offerings, and creating relevant, vibrant music-based radio for and from New York City.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Assist with production of specials and segments, including thorough research of guests; assist with recording, editing and producing interviews; contribute to the web components of special programs and festivals
· Assist with producing ongoing series such as Rockwell Matters on Evening Music, and help create transcripts, show summaries and promotional materials for the series
· Assist with coordinating and promoting weekly Ear to Ear interviews and other special shows that may be developed
· Assist with multi-platform festival programming activities such as coordinating and scheduling approved guests and writing scripts
· Assist with ongoing maintenance of documenting American (specifically New York) composers
· Assist with providing researched backgrounds and peripheral elements for WNYC themed programming, including associated music and preparatory information for hosts
· Assist with implementation of approved immersive web environments to compliment programming and festivals
· Maintain accurate contact information of record labels, local institutions, concert promoters, and artist representatives
· Additional duties and assignments as needed
Qualifications:
· Minimum 2-3 years prior experience producing in radio, music or media industry required
· Proficient user of ProTools and DAVID software packages for recording, editing and mixing audio required
· High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office required
· Requires highly organized individual with ability to handle multiple, overlapping projects and deadlines
· Competent with interview setting, including preparatory research, audio recording, and editorial cuts required
· Extensive interest in arts and humanities with willingness to create new associations and avenues with classical music required
· Demonstrated ability to successfully function in a collaborative work environment required
· Deep understanding of New York City venues, labels, music programmers, and local concert series required
· WNYC listener preferred
· Must be able to read, write, speak, use a telephone, personal computer, and other office equipment
· Must be able to work in a studio broadcast and/or office environment; must be able to work remotely on occasion; must be available to work overtime as needed
