SEEKING WASHINGTON, D.C. EDITOR

The Nation, the country’s oldest political weekly, seeks a Washington
Editor with strong reporting skills and experience covering politics and
policy. We seek a candidate who has a dynamic and distinctive vision for
the magazine’s Washington coverage.

Editor should have knowledge of how D.C. works –and fails to work–
and broad familiarity with the workings of Congress, the executive
branch and the public interest community.

The position involves:
*Contributing articles and editorials to the magazine and its website
*Commissioning articles and, at times, editing pieces for the magazine
and website
*Collaborating with the New York office in shaping political coverage
for the magazine and website
*Overseeing the magazine’s Washington office, which at times includes
other Nation writers and editors
*Representing the magazine in Washington– engaging with the broader
progressive community, attending events and conferences and appearing
on tv and radio

media, music, visual arts, and both high and popular culture. The
