Equipment Setup
• Checks all equipment.
• Reads scopes and audio levels.
• Sets machines to required levels.

Quality Control

Rookie reporters have produced stories on a wide range of story topics, often taking listeners inside worlds rarely represented in mainstream media. Radio Rookies seeks an MSW with a minimum of four years of professional experience to provide supervision for radio production staff working with teenagers who are reporting personal stories about their own lives and communities. The documentaries often delve into difficult topics, such as: drug addiction, foster care, immigration status, self esteem. The program staff spends up to 200 one-on-one hours with participants planning and executing interviews, researching, and writing narration. The ideal candidate has extensive experience supervising social work students, has worked with teenagers (the population we work with exclusively), and has expertise in adolescent development. The consultant will not work directly with youth, but will provide support and supervision to program staff. An interest or experience in journalism or documentary production is a plus. The consultant will work 1-3 hours per/week throughout the year.

The Minnesota Public Radio show “In The Loop” needs an intern with a strong technical background and a creative spirit to help bring its episodes alive on its web site, and help the show communicate with its listening community. In The Loop will begin its first weekly season in the fall, and the Web Intern will be crucial to helping the show present a polished and easy-to-navigate online presence. Qualified candidates must have excellent writing skills, have a strong photojournalistic sense, and be fluent in Web production standards and tools (including HTML and Photoshop). The Web Intern will do most of the hands-on work of updating the web site, with guidance from the show’s Editor and Web Master.

WMUB has an opening for a part-time Staff Announcer/Morning Edition
anchor. This position will involve hosting local segments of
National Public Radio’s Morning Edition including newscasts, traffic
and weather reports plus other information as appropriate.

WMUB’s broadcast studios are located in a spacious facility in
Oxford, Ohio, on the campus of Miami University. WMUB reports to the
President’s Office of Communications. We serve the region of
southwestern Ohio, southeastern Indiana, and parts of northern
Kentucky, with service to parts of the Cincinnati and (principally)
Dayton markets. Our program schedule includes NPR news magazines and
talk shows, daily local talk shows, Car Talk, Garrison Keillor, and a
nighttime jazz format.

Duties of this position include:

A daily Monday through Friday board shift of at least 3 hours;
Assembling and delivering newscasts each half-hour throughout the
morning;
Writing and voicing spot news stories for later use;
Preparing occasional feature-length stories or two-way interviews;

Qualified applicants will have: a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or
Mass Communication or equivalent experience; a minimum of two years
of radio hosting experience with a smooth and friendly public radio
style; a solid journalistic work ethic and the ability to create a
smooth blend between the NPR feed and locally-inserted material.
Necessary skills include: board operation; hosting; computer skills
including digital editing; field reporting, interviewing, writing
and production. Other desirable experience may include: hosting
talk shows and working with and training students.
