Job Title: Photographer/Field Technician (FT)
PURPOSE:
As photojournalist- shoots, edits and feeds video for recorded and live events; As Field Technician- operates ENG and DSNG trucks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Shoots and edits news video and operates microwave and satellite live newsgathering vehicles and transmitters on a regular basis covering live news events, press conferences and/or breaking news.
• Maintains communication with assignment desk, master control and reporters via two-way radios, cell phones and pager.
• Sets up live shots and operates camera during live events.
• Observes and enforces all safety and FCC rules and regulations to assure safe and proper operation of LIVE trucks.
• Shoots professional, top-quality video for on-scenes, packages, VOs and VOSOTs.
• May be required to be on call 24/7 and carry paging device.
• Stays fully abreast of current local news, maintains acquaintances with newsmakers, and is able to conduct interviews for taped segments or breaking news.
• Skillfully edits any story assigned for television newscast including VOs, VOSOTs, and packages in the field.

EDUCATION:
• College degree or equivalent from technical school preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Title: Producer (FT), News 10 Now
SUMMARY
Responsible for line producing a quality assigned newscast that is relevant, informative, and beneficial to our audience. Creates accurately timed newscasts that meet format requirements, within established deadlines. Produces assigned newscasts and news inserts making decisions on story lineup, video/audio, graphics, and timing to construct the show. Writes stories for anchors as required. Stories should be factually accurate, fair and balanced in content, and written in a clear, concise and conversational manner. Coordinates with graphic artists in developing the graphics for the show. Performs copy editing functions or fill in as Executive Producer as required.
Produces and writes special reports as directed by Executive Producers or News Director. Works with Associate Producers, VJs,, Directors and Assignment Editors to create the newscast product.
Responsible for up-to-date knowledge of news and events in local markets, nation and world. Brings story ideas to daily editorial meetings. Supervises or assists in supervision of newswheel production workflow, including working with directors and other technical staff to ensure efficient production control room functions.
REQUIREMENTS
College degree in broadcast journalism or related field. Minimum one year electronic news experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Television news producing experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal, and good organizational skills. Strong computer skills and ability to work with common office software systems. Familiarity with common office machines including copier, fax, etc. Solid news judgment, with knowledge of current local news and newsmakers a plus. Ability to make quick decisions, multi-task, and work effectively and efficiently under pressure and deadlines. Must be able to use and have knowledge of common television newsroom computer systems and software, with ability to learn new software systems and train others in their operation. Thorough knowledge of operational and office policies and procedures. Experience or functional knowledge of news video editing systems preferred, with knowledge of non-linear and or desktop-based editing systems a plus. Ability to shoot and edit video preferred. May be required to be on call 24/7 and carry paging device. Valid Driver’s License

SUMMARY: Responsible for developing and producing news and sports stories by investigating, interviewing, shooting, writing, editing, producing and reporting on a daily basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Using creativity and imagination, and exercising strong professional news judgment, gathers information, conducts interviews, shoots video, produces and reports assigned stories and events on a daily basis. Will primarily work alone to report, shoot and edit stories.
• Functional to advanced knowledge in the use of field cameras, gear and editing systems. Must become proficient in photojournalism and video editing techniques.
• Stories should be factually accurate, fair and balanced in content, and written in a clear and concise manner.
• Obtains news and sports information by developing sources and using research and interviewing skills. Conducts live or taped on-camera interviews.
• Deals professionally with public, both official and non-official, in gathering and reporting.
• Maintains a strong familiarity with local and national news and sports issues of the day by reading newspapers and monitoring competition to the point that reporter can generally speak to issues credibly during breaking news situations. Maintains extensive knowledge of issues, events and newsmakers across viewing area.
• Edits copy written by others and edits video to written copy.
• Meets all assigned production deadlines.
• Contributes ideas for news stories, and participates in editorial meetings.
• Anchors and/or produces full sportscasts on a fill-in basis as required.
• Position is based in news channel’s Binghamton Newsroom. Responsibilities are split between news and sports assignments as determined by management.
