Law Technology News, (www.lawtechnologynews.com) with a 43,000
circulation, is a ‘’trade show in print'’ (and online). We cover the
latest products, services, trends and developments to help law firms
and corporate law departments better serve their clients.
Our coverage includes short news items, an extensive feature section,
and five regular columns. We received 2005 awards from ABM (Neal
finalist), ASBPE (gold), and TABBIES (bronze) and Technolawyer
('’Favorite Print publication'’) for our journalism.
Our news editor is responsible for writing the ‘’front of the book'’
sections: announcements about new products and services, people and
deals. The news editor also reports and writes our “Technology on
Trial” column, which is a case study about how technology was used in
a real-life trial.
This is a junior level post, ideal for a candidate who has been a
reporter or editorial assistant, with 1-2 years experience — or a
new graduate with extensive experience on a college newspaper. It’s
a great position for someone interested in learning all facets of
producing a monthly magazine.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in
technology and how it is affecting the business world. An
understanding of the legal community would be ideal.
Our staff is small and collaborative, and our pace is quick, so the
successful candidate will be a self-starter, facile, flexible, with a
good sense of humor. There is some travel. Experience with Word
essential, with Quark Xpress and CopyDesk a plus. We will be
migrating to InDesign this year.
Our goal is to explain legal technology in plain English, and
demystify it for our readers, who represent the full bandwidth of the
legal profession: from IT directors at major firms, to general
counsel in law departments, to solo practitioners, to technology
consultants, to vendors. If there is a single common denominator, it
is that our readers are very passionate about the magazine.
