Interactive Learning Manager
News University, one of the leaders in online training for journalists, is
seeking an Interactive Learning Manager to help oversee the process for
creating courses at NewsU. Not only will you create courses, you will have
the opportunity to help shape the future of e-learning for journalists
around the world.
Responsibilities include:
* Work with the Interactive Learning Director to set priorities and
workflow
* Develop flow charts to detail information architecture, wireframes
to exhibit navigation and user interface, and storyboards to convey
interactivity and content presentation
* Work with producers and others to guide the creation of e-learning
* Work with the Interactive Learning Artist to design the look and
feel of NewsU courses
* Use Flash Actionscript, CSS, XML, database technology, and client-
and server-side scripting languages in the development of course content
* Practice, enforce and improve the standardized design and
development of NewsU courses
* Provide feedback and direction to internal and external faculty and
contractors
* Assist in the marketing of NewsU to potential users
* Participate in the strategic planning of long-term industry training
projects, of which NewsU is a small part of the whole

Interactive Learning Assistant
News University, one of the leaders in online training for journalists, is
seeking an Interactive Learning Assistant to create e-learning courses.
NewsU, a project of The Poynter Institute and Knight Foundation, is
committed to helping journalists get better at their job. At NewsU, you will
have the opportunity to help shape the future of e-learning for journalists
around the world.
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has a strong interest in emerging trends in Internet technologies,
e-learning and journalism
* Is a conceptual thinker, and self-starter who works hard but also
likes to have fun
* Is someone who can take initiative, and works well as part of a team
* Is confident in his or her ability to manage multiple tasks and/or
projects and meet deadlines
* The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in computer-related
design fundamentals including user interface design, information
architecture, animation and interactivity. This person also should have a
solid foundation in online graphic design fundamentals including typography,
color and bandwidth considerations and is familiar with digital editing for
photography, audio and video.
Additional learning opportunities:
* Participate in daily contact and discussion with the faculty members
of The Poynter Institute and journalism industry leaders.
* Observe the academic and administrative process of The Institute
from group meetings and educational programs
* Meet and learn from Poynter seminar leaders and guest speakers
