Endowed Professor: The ideal candidate should have previous teaching experience preferably in media writing and/or multi-media/visual communications disciplines. A terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D.) OR substantial professional experience is preferred. The position includes duties as the Director of the Academy of Writing Excellence in addition to teaching journalism/ communications courses. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Visiting Professor: The ideal candidate should have previous teaching experience preferably in media writing and media law.
A terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D.) OR substantial professional experience is preferred. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester unless release time is granted for the coordination of special projects. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Producer with emphasis on Talk Show/Entertainment Show Production will work with the Show Host to direct the Photographers, Editors, and other personnel, and be responsible for ensuring that high quality entertainment programs are consistently aired, and that standards of quality for all aspects of the show are maintained. The Producer will personally produce assigned shows. The Producer will also work with the Show Host to ensure that the responsibilities of guest/content scheduling, format, organization with other departments, writing, and distribution of final scripts are all accomplished correctly and within prescribed deadlines. The Producer will also perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Production and the Commercial Production Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced Education in the field of Broadcast Journalism which has given the applicant the ability to perform the required functions of the job or equivalent broadcasting work experience, which has prepared the applicant to perform the required functions of the job. Demonstration of skills by performance in audition or aircheck, supported by references and pre-employment interviews. Available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and for extended periods of overtime, if needed. Able to control high stress periods and heavy workload. Valid Virginia Driver’s license within 30 days of employment. Knowledge of journalistic standards as they relate to on-air presentation of segments. Accurate and comprehensive writing skills. Available to travel overnight to off-site locations, including foreign destinations, for extended periods of time, if needed. Access to an automobile if needed for transportation.

POSITION SUMMARY: Primarily responsible for gathering news, as well as shooting and editing videotape of news, sports, and special features; and responsible for setting up ENG vans for live remotes when needed. Must display high journalistic standards and be prepared to cover stories alone, which will require using effective interviewing techniques. Must be a good communicator, work well with others, and take direction from management regarding job performance and shooting/editing style, technique, and content. Due to the dangers inherent with the operation of an ENG van, equipped with a mast, this person must make safety “Priority One.”
